CLAHRC NWC Research Internship Opportunity
NIHR Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care North West Coast (CLAHRC NWC)
Research Internships 2016
We are pleased to invite applications for the NIHR Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care North West Coast (CLAHRC NWC) Research Internships 2016.
The internships are designed to support individuals within our partner organisations to undertake a small research project under the supervision of experienced researchers from either the University of Central Lancashire, Lancaster University or the University of Liverpool. Interns may choose their own research idea, but it must align with their organisation’s priorities, focus on addressing health inequality and fit within at least one of the NIHR CLAHRC NWC Themes.
The internships are open to individuals within our partner organisations who have an interest in pursuing a research idea, wish to learn or develop skills and expertise in research or wish to pursue their research idea further (e.g. preparation for fellowship applications). Individuals with research skills at all levels will be considered.
Interns will be expected to dedicate one day a week to their research project for a period of up to one year. Salary back-fill will be provided to assist with time release. During this time, interns will receive supervisory support at the appropriate University and formal training sessions at the University of Central Lancashire, covering the steps required to undertake research. Interns will also have the benefit of working alongside other interns throughout the programme.
The employing organisation of the intern will be offered a single payment of £6000 in order to release interns from their duties, one day a week, for a period of up to a year. A £500 budget for research costs incurred during the internship is also available.
Applicants for the internship programme do not require any formal research training. However, they will require a strong interest in research, commitment to the programme (including presentation of their work at the end of the year), full managerial support (including attendance by their line manager at one training session), ability to attend the appropriate University for supervisory meetings and a willingness to attend the University of Central Lancashire for training sessions.
The internships will commence in February 2016. Interviews will be held in November 2015. For an application form, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
Informal enquiries can be made to Joanna Harrison, Research Capacity Delivery Manager, 01772 895106, email@example.com.
Deadline for applications: Friday 23rd October 2015
