Nominate now for North West healthcare research and innovation awards

The search is on for the North West Coast’s most inspiring clinical research and innovation teams and individuals whose work has made a difference to people’s lives.

Entries are invited to the North West Coast Research and Innovation Awards 2017, to celebrate success and reward achievements for the excellent work being undertaken across the region in relation to clinical research and innovation within healthcare.

The deadline for nominations is 13th November, and they can be entered at: http://www.nwcawards.co.uk/.

At the event’s core is the desire to demonstrate how clinical research and innovation have had an impact on patient care across the North West Coast and to showcase ideas.

The awards are a collaboration between the Innovation Agency, the NIHR Clinical Research Network North West Coast; and NIHR Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care North West Coast (CLAHRC NWC).

The awards are aimed at a variety of stakeholders who work with the three organisations, including NHS partner organisations, local authorities, industry partners, academic partners, and business partners working in health innovation.

Over 120 research and innovation teams from across the region entered the awards in 2015, with 34 winners and finalists being awarded on the night.

The 2017 event is set to be even bigger and better, with the number of categories increasing to 15, covering a wider range of research and innovation achievements.

We will be recognising some of the most innovative organisations and individuals who are helping to drive the innovations which are having an impact on people’s lives.”

Jacqueline Pirmohamed, Chief Operating Officer of the NIHR CRN North West Coast, said: “The event in 2015 was a fantastic celebration of the region’s achievements and success relating to research and innovation. These awards really embrace the spirit of promoting success for the region. But most importantly, they also give us an opportunity to acknowledge the many patients and other individuals across the region who have given up their valuable time, at sometimes challenging times in their lives, to benefit our understanding of disease and its treatment.”

Professor Mark Gabbay, Director of CLAHRC North West Coast, added:  “These awards are fantastic for acknowledging the research being done across the North West Coast and for showcasing our collaborative approaches with partners to demonstrate the focus research has on enhancing improved health for patients.”

The winners will be announced at a ceremony at the Hilton Hotel in Liverpool on 9th February 2017, hosted by journalist and former ITV science and medical editor, Lawrence McGinty.
